Frequently Asked Questions
How does Botox work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines — the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising the eyebrows over the years. Our nurse will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the frown lines between your brows, your crow’s feet lines and your forehead lines.
Will my face look over-done or unnatural from Botox?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment that keeps you looking like yourself but with less noticeable lines.
There’s a misconception around BOTOX® that it can make your face look “frozen,” “tight,” or “puffy,” but those potential risks are associated with fillers and cosmetic surgeries.
We only use licensed and trained Nurse Practitioners who are experts in facial anatomy to inject our clients.
How long is the recovery time after Botox?
Treatment requires minimal downtime as the main focus is staying upright for 4 hours. For the most part, you should be able to return to your normal day.
How to save on Botox?
Yes, the only way to save is through the Alle program, a free-to-download app created by Allergan, the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Click HERE to learn more.
⛔︎ Be weary of getting your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment at locations that offer exceptionally high discounts or advertise “cheap Botox” as there may be some potential risks. Keep in mind the following:
- There is no such thing as “generic” BOTOX® as only name-brand BOTOX® is FDA-approved.
- Part of the cost is for a quality injector who should be a licensed and trained nurse.
Always do your research. Basically, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Do men get Botox?
Yes! The number of men receiving cosmetic treatments overall has risen by 325% over the last 20 years. When surveyed, the majority of men say they want to look good and that they’re bothered by the changes they see in the mirror. 80% would choose to treat their crow’s feet first, while 74% would prioritize their forehead lines, and 60% would like to target their frown lines.
How do I know if I’m getting Botox from a safe source?
At the location, you should be able to locate certifications that coordinate with the state. (At Revata, you can view our license connected to the state of Texas.)
At your appointment, they should always have the vial that they are using on display. Real Botox will have the BOTOX® Cosmetic logo.
What is “fresh” Botox? What is “water downed” Botox?
There can be additional ethical concerns when it comes to the handling of the Botox solution.
Fresh Botox is when a vial is newly opened and fully used within two weeks. Withdrawing from the same vial after two weeks can lead to concerns regarding its sterility.
Revata always uses fresh Botox.
Watered down Botox is when the Botox solution is mixed with too much saline. To clarify, Botox actually needs to be diluted with a specific saline solution at a certain amount before being administered. But some places will over-dilute the solution which weakens the potency. Unfortunately this happens a lot, accidentally due to ignorance or purposely due to greedy business practices.
A client will not notice that they received watered-down Botox at first. The issue will most likely get noticed at:
- the 2-week mark when their usual dosage seems less strong, or
- when the Botox affects wear off sooner than usual.
The Revata team leads with integrity; we will not administer a client with watered-down Botox.
How does the ALLE Program Work?
